There could soon be a solution to a proposed gas rate hike in Kansas.
The Kansas Corporation Commission will hold a settlement hearing next week regarding a possible rate hike for gas customers in the State. The meeting was originally planned to be an evidentiary hearing between the parties in the case, which include KCC Staff, Kansas Gas Service, the Citizens Utility Ratepayer Board, and WoodRiver Energy but was changed to a settlement following yesterday's meeting of the KCC.
If the settlement is approved, residential customers would see an increase in their monthly bill of about $3.80 per month. This amount is substantially less than the originally proposed increase.
The KCC may approve, reject or modify the agreement following next week's hearing. The KCC order is due on or before October 25.
