Touch of Life Ministries has raised more than half the money needed to repair their building's roof.
Organizer Alicia Melton says they need $10,000 for the project, and they've already raised more than $5,000. Melton says they still need $4,790 to be able to do the project. Touch of Life opened the area's only warming center last winter, and Melton says there are big plans for the space down the road once the roof is repaired. She says one major challenge is getting people a temporary home base and an address to obtain more permanent housing and employment.
Melton says the group donating the labor to fix the roof will be in town on August 18th, so the money needs to be raised by next Wednesday, the 14th. Anyone interested in donating can call 918-559-8526, mail a check to 501 E 9th Street or drop donations by the ministry's thrift store at 201 Eldridge. Touch of Life is a 501c3 and donations are tax deductible.
