The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office warns area residents of a new phone scam that has been circulating in the area.

 

 The person calling claims to be a sergeant with the Montgomery County sheriff's Office and other local agencies. They then tell the person they call that they have a warrant and they need to send money, or they missed court and needs them to meet at the Courthouse to pay their bond. The scammer often gives their name as Sergeant Brian Collins from the M-G-S-O's False Fraud Claims Department.

 

MGSO does NOT have a False Fraud Claims Dept.

Please do not send anyone requesting money over the phone or meet in person without validation. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office says it will never call you requesting you to pay your bond or that because you missed Court you need to pay.
