Special utility rates for landlords in Cherryvale are going away.

At this week's city commission meeting, an ordinance was passed to repeal landlord service that allowed property owners to pay a reduced rate for utilities in between occupants. City Clerk Karen Davis says landlord service is one area where the city loses money.

Now that the ordinance has been repealed, landlords will have to pay the base fees, which total just over $50 a month. Davis says anyone currently on landlord service will still be under the old rule until they change the billing over to a renter.
