Cherryvale Hires Consultant, Mowing Saga Continues

The City of Cherryvale will be getting some help from a familiar name.

At last night's city council meeting, Tim Wilson was hired as an outside consultant to help with economic development. Wilson previously served as Coffeyville's interim city manager and continues to help after his transition out of the position.

In other business, discussion was held on the Cemetery mowing situation. City staff questioned contractor Briggs Adkison, whose company was awarded the mowing contract earlier this year at $63,500. City Staff say work hasn't been getting done and they've received threats from the public regarding the situation. Council Member Norman Jonson says the issue is deeper than just lawn care.

Mayor Gary Minnich says this is two of three strikes, and Adkison said he plans to personally supervise the work and make sure issues are taken care of.
