Independence Community College announces the appointment of a new Associate Professor of Visual Art.

Luke Blevins attended Missouri Southern earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art with a focus on painting. He further honed his skills in photography and has worked as a photo editor. Blevins completed a Master of Arts in Studio Art at the University of Missouri Kansas City in 2020. Arts and Letters Division Chair Heather Mydosh says Blevins's experience and expertise will be a real boon to the students and the wider community. She says it will be a pleasure to see the Visual Art program flourish with his guidance and care.

Blevins has experience in higher education, particularly in the Pioneer Valley, where he worked as an arts and technology specialist. In this role, he developed and taught educational programming, blending traditional and contemporary artistic practices. As a practicing artist, Blevins works with photography, painting, and new media, with an interest in the process of creation and communication facilitated through human creativity and innovation in visual presentation.
