Oklahoma Boy Hailed as Hero After Saving Girl from Drowning in Hot Tub

 

 An 11-year-old Oologah boy is being called a hero after saving a drowning girl in a hot tub.

 

 Luke Jenkins and his family were vacationing in Branson when he decided to spend a few minutes in the hotel's hot tub. Jenkins got in the water and then noticed a girl who was already in the tub had been under water for several minutes.

 

Jenkins tried to lift her out of the water, but noticed that her hair was caught. He pulled her hair loose, hit the emergency stop on the hot tub, pulled, the girl out of the water and began CPR. He then called 9-1-1. the child's mother finished CPR and by the time first responders arrived, the girl was awake and alert.

 

The girl is reportedly doing well.

 

Correction: The original version of this story stated that the girl's hair was caught in an uncovered drain. It is unclear how the girl was caught. The owners of the pool say the drains were covered and inspections that were made after the incident indicate that the spa was in compliance with the law.
