With a heat advisory in effect for most of the week, outdoor pets need to keep as cool as possible. Coffeyville Friends of Animals Becky Barnhart says there are ways to make sure they have cooler drinking water.

Make sure there is plenty of shade in the backyard for any outside pets as well, especially a cool spot to lay down. If natural shade isn't available a tarp can be hung to provide some relief from the sun.
