KBI Investigates Officer-Involved Shooting in Salina

 

 The Kansas Bureau of Investigation says a 25-year-old man was shot and killed in an officer-involved shooting in Salina on Wednesday.

 

 The Salina Police Department was called to the scene around 7:15pm on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, where they encountered several subject. Some of those present had outstanding warrants and were taken into custody. Police then learned that another man – 25-year-old Jesse Wray – was inside a detached garage. Officers deployed a K-9 officer and gave verbal commands for Wray to exit the garage. Wray refused and threatened to shoot officers if they entered. The Salina SWAT Team and the Kansas Highway Patrol were called in to assist.

 

Officers on the scene noticed smoke coming from the garage and opened the door. A woman then exited, followed by Wray. Gunfire was exchanged and Wray was hit. Wray was pronounced dead at 8:45pm. The woman was taken to a nearby hospital where she was treated and released. No officers were injured in the incident. The KBI is investigating.
