An Independence man is arrested on a number of charges after a traffic stop.
At around 9:45am, Montgomery County Sheriff Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a silver 2005 Toyota van at the intersection of 10th and Oak Street in Independence. The driver was identified as Codaniel Jones, who wasn't in possession of a valid driver's license. During the stop, Police Service Dog Sancho was deployed for a free air sniff around the vehicle. PSD Sancho alerted deputies to the presence of illegal drugs.
Officers searched the vehicle and found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Jones was taken into custody and during a search of him, deputies found brass knuckles. Jones faces charges of driving with a suspended license, possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia and criminal carrying of a weapon.
