The Independence Police Department announces the appointment of the new assistant police chief.
New Assistant Police Chief Derek Bryant started with IPD as an auxiliary police officer in October 1993, and then as a full-time officer in May 1994. Bryant was promoted and served as a lieutenant from 1998 to 2009. He transferred to the detective’s division in 2009 and is currently the lead detective.
New Police Chief Dustin Stafford says Bryant’s background and commitment to serving the community align with the department’s mission.
