President Joe Biden has approved Governor Laura Kelly's request for a federal disaster declaration following severe weather in central and southeast Kansas earlier this year.
Governor Kelly made the request for aid on June 26 after storms from April 25-30 caused damage in several Kansas counties. The declaration allows for state and local governments along with certain private and non-profit groups to apply for public assistance funds to help repair or replace items damaged during the storms.
Included in the declaration are Allen, Chautauqua, Bourbon, Cherokee, Elk, Greenwood, Neosho, and Wilson counties.
