The City of Miami, Oklahoma, receives a $6.3 million FEMA grant for Roadway Flooding Improvement.
The grant is the largest the city has ever received and it comes through the Federal Emergency Management Agency and Oklahoma Emergency Management. The money is ear-marked to build hazard mitigation projects at five flood prone locations in Miami. The project will be conducted in two phases: Phase One is design and engineering and Phase Two is construction. The entire project is estimated to take three years to complete.
Mayor Bless Parker stated that the city had been working to secure the grant for several years and credited City Grant Coordinator Glenda Longan and new City Manager Tyler Cline for their efforts on the project.
