The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of a scam currently affecting the community.

Unknown individuals are posing as local law enforcement officers and contacting residents, claiming they were served with a subpoena several months ago and missed their court date. These scammers are demanding money and threatening an arrest if the payment isn't made. The scammers are requesting cash and arranging meetings at various locations to collect the money. Some residents have already fallen victim to this scam. The scammers are using blocked phone numbers and sending texts to carry out these activities.

If anyone receives a phone call, text or voicemail from someone claiming to be a law enforcement officer verify their identity by contacting the local law enforcement agency directly. No law enforcement will never call asking for money or threatening arrest for non-payment.
