A Kansas man is running from Wichita to Denver to benefit a Denver child charity.
Rick Wulf, of Cheney, Kansas, was inspired by his pastor at Trinity Christian United Church to volunteer at the Tennyson Center for Children in Denver. The Center has been helping children from five to ten years old who suffer from traumatic abuse for the past 20 years. Wulf decided he wanted to raise awareness and funds for the facility and the best way for him to do this was to run from Wichita to Denver.
His trip – which he calls “500 Miles of Hope” - began on July 2nd and he plans to complete the 550 mile run on July 20th. Wulf runs about 30 miles each day with the support of his wife Lori and other volunteers from his church. He has raised more than $10,000 for the center.
Wulf works as an assistant cross-country and track coach at Cheney High School and Middle School, just west of Wichita.
