Budget proposals were on the agenda at this week's Wilson County Commission meeting, with the commissioners hearing from both the Conservation District and Rural Fire.

 

County Conservation District Chairman Rod Vorhees presented the requested budget to the commisson. He says he is confident the operations budget request will be approved in full.

 

Vorhees also spoke on behalf of rural fire, requesting the identical $95,500 that was requested last year. He says a reason they are able to maintain the same budget is the increased restrictions on burns in the county.

 

Commissioners will meet with an appraiser next week regarding the county budget for the year.

 

Additional items of business at this week's meeting was an update on a bridge repair on Decatur Road near 850 Road, as well as early voting beginning next week for the August election.
