The Coffeyville City Commission votes to establish a Community Improvement District for Coffeyville Plaza.
This establishes a one percent sales tax for the shopping center where Dollar Tree and King Food Saver are located. Gilmore and Bell Representative Garth Herrmann says the sales tax only applies to businesses in that shopping center.
The sales tax will help replenish the money spent, about two million dollars, on repairs to the parking lot, buildings or any other needed repairs done to the area by the property owner. The repairs and the approval of the CID are helping in the negations of two new businesses to the plaza. One has already signed a lease the second has not but neither business was named.
