Two investigators with the Washington County, Oklahoma, Sheriff's Department are assisting with reducing child exploitation and crimes against children in the state via the internet.
The Washington County Commissioners approved a memorandum of understanding Monday morning for the Oklahoma Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force between the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and the sheriff's office. The task force serves as a resource for federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. In return, the OSBI provides manpower, training, equipment, support and expertise needed to investigate technology-facilitated child sexual exploitation. Sheriff Scott Owen says the program is grant-funded and protects the children of Washington County.
The new memorandum of understanding will be in effect for another year.
