There will soon be work done to rural roads around Chautauqua County
The County Commission recently agreed to approve an application for the High Risk Rural Roads Project. Earlier this year, Governor Laura Kelly delegated more than $6.5 million in federal funds to rural projects around the state that will increase the safety and efficiency of local roadways.
The Kansas Department of Transportation recently changed their classification of roads that qualify for the HRRR program, now involving any roadway that has common crash-risk characteristics, regardless of accident history. Previous methods have been to analyze roads based on accident statistics, rather than accident potential.
Chautauqua County also agreed to approve Blue Cross and Blue Shield in the amount of $38,330.08, and Allied Claims in the amount of $4,838.30.
The commission will next meet on July 15th, at 8:30 a.m., in the Commission Room of the County Courthouse in Sedan.
