The Sedan City Council faced some upset citizens at this week's meeting.
The reason for the upset was an incident that occurred in the city's park, The Hollow, on June 24th. At issue was some repair work planned for a walkway in the Hollow. A volunteer group had planned to do the work and started the construction without the City's approval. One citizen who spoke at this week's meeting says the committee hasn't needed approval in the past.
Recently hired City Clerk Lana Robinson attempted to halt the construction due to the lack of approval for the work. Robinson was unaware that approval had not been required in the past. At some point, the Sedan Police were called in. Councilwoman Janice Fine apologized on behalf of the city to everyone involved and proposed a solution.
Councilman Adam Clark agreed with the idea but said the council would have to look into any issues that might arise for the committee before the transfer could be made.
In the end, the Council approved just over $8,000 for the committee to make the needed repairs to the Hollow walkway.
