Fire crews in southwest Missouri respond to calls of a pickup truck hauling burning hay bales.
Around 5:30 yesterday afternoon, a pickup truck towing a trailer loaded with round hay bales began dropping the burning bales as it drove through the town of Duenweg near Joplin. The burning hay was on the trailer and in the bed of the truck. The vehicle drove through Duenweg, dropping flaming piles of hay on the city street. The Duenweg Fire Department responded to douse the burning hay bales with the help of Duenweg Public Works, which used heavy equipment to break up the bales so that they were easier to extinguish. The pickup truck and trailer were seriously damaged by the fire, but no injuries were reported.
