The city of Caney's pursuit of grants for multiple water projects continues.

 The water project to connect Caney to Coffeyville water continues to be in the environmental phase, and progress to continue to the engineering phase can not begin until the environmental study is complete. Along with the studies becoming more complex, City Administrator Kelley Zellner says the way grants are written have changed drastically in the last ten years.

 Zellner says applying for grants for communities isn't a job for an individual anymore.

 Zellner, along with city employees and contracted grant writers continue daily communication with state and federal departments, making sure the requirements and stipulations are being met. Zellner says having a reliable water source continues to be the main goal for the city of Caney, and he is doing what he can to make that happen in a timely manner.
