The number of holiday travelers on the nation's highways continues to surpass pre-pandemic levels and this 4th of July looks to be no different.
More than 60 million people say they plan to travel by car this week. That's three million more than last year and five million more than in 2019. With that much congestion on the road, Shawn Steward of Triple-A Kansas says it's important to remain calm while driving.
Steward says it's also important to avoid those things that might divert your focus from the road.
Triple-A says the best times to travel to avoid congestion are before noon and after 7pm. Traveling in those times will help you avoid the peak traffic hours.
