There might be a tax increase in the works for Montgomery County.
At this week's county commission meeting, County Financial Officer Fred Gress asked commissioners to consider approving a resolution to exceed the revenue neutral rate for Montgomery County. As the county prepares to start work on next year's budget, Gress says attention must be paid to the fact that there have been cost increases everywhere.
Commissioner Robert Bever says the county has a lot of expenditures that it has no choice in paying, such as legal representation for indigent defendants.
The commission took no action at this week's meeting, but planned to discuss the issue further in budget work sessions.
