An unnamed Joplin man gave police quite a chase on Saturday evening.

 At around 7:30pm on Saturday night, a Joplin Police Officer was on foot and attempted to stop and talk to a male suspect. As the officer approached, the man fled and the officer ran after him. While running away, the suspect paused briefly to steal a bicycle from an adult female. The suspect eventually turned down a dead-end street where the officer – who was still on foot – caught up with him and detained him. The man was taken into custody and transported to the Joplin City Jail. He faces several charges including fleeing from police and stealing the bicycle.

The stolen bike was returned to its proper owner.
