The City of Chetopa is back to normal water usage after a major water leak this week.

 Chetopa residents were asked to voluntarily restrict their water usage earlier this week after the city water system suffered a major water leak. Authorities asked residents to only use water that was absolutely necessary in order to give city crews time to find and fix the problem. By voluntarily limiting their water use, the city was able to avoid possible contamination that would have led to a boil water order. The city is now back to normal water usage, including activities such as the filling of swimming pools.

City leaders credit resident efforts at conservation for the quick resolution to the issue.
