Residency Requirements Waived for Incoming City Manager

The Coffeyville City Commission votes to waive the residency requirements for the incoming city manager. Mayor Alec Hendryx says the current ordinance requires the city manager to reside within the city limits within six months of accepting employment unless there are unique circumstances.

The commission voted unanimously to waive the residency requirements for incoming City Manager Ben Brubaker. Interim City Manager Tim Wilson says they are really pleased to have been able to hire Brubaker.

In other business, the commission approved an ordinance to allow alcohol to be served in Union Pacific Park and the areas around it during Hops Around Town Brewfest in October. They also approved the purchase of a new transformer for Electric Utility and a new truck for the Wastewater Collections Department.
