Residents in northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas continue to pick up the pieces after weekend tornadoes.
As of yesterday afternoon in Claremore, there were 23 storm-related injuries, 19 people were transported to area hospitals, with three of those having possible life-threatening injuries. At this time, there are no confirmed reports of fatalities in Rogers County. The National Weather Service in Tulsa has seen damage consistent with an EF-3 tornado in parts of the area.
Two are confirmed dead in Mayes County, with the towns of Pryor and Salina hit hard. Crews are working to restore power to the area.
Eight people died statewide in Arkansas. An emergency official said two of the deaths were attributed to the circumstances of the storm but not directly caused by weather, including a person who suffered a heart attack and another who was deprived of oxygen due to a loss of electricity.
