A Pittsburg woman is sentenced in a child abuse case.
Earlier this week, 41-year-old Megan VonHemel was sentenced to 6 ½ years in prison after pleading guilty to Aggravated Battery, Abuse of a Child, and Interfering with Law Enforcement. Charges were filed by the Cherokee County Attorney's Office in 2022 following an investigation into VonHemel's conduct with a minor child.
VonHemel will remain in the Cherokee County Jail pending transfer to the Kansas Department of Corrections.
