Severe weather hits western Kansas and causes damage and power outages in Russell.
The City of Russell was hit by golf-ball sized hail and 82 miles per hour wind gusts as severe weather and thunderstorms passed across the western part of the state yesterday afternoon.
The city sustained significant damage including damage to buildings, downed trees and power outages. The Russell School district canceled all classes today due to a lack of power. The City says power cannot be restored until the damage is repaired.
