Members of the USD 447 Cherryvale-Thayer Board of Education votes to accept an increase in the cost to renovate the HVAC system at Lincoln Central Elementary.
At Monday's meeting, Superintendent Travis Githens presented the Board with a change order on install costs for the school's heating and cooling system set to take place this summer. Githens showed Board members two letters from DCS Services. The first – dated January 8th – stated the cost for the install would be $472,000. The second – dated May 6th – listed the cost as $681,000. Githens explains the issue for the Board.
Board member Robert John asks Githens to explain such an expensive discrepancy.
Because the original funding came through Covid ESSER money, the Board voted to approve the cost change.
