Dearing may be getting a new addition to its fire station.

 At Monday's Montgomery County Commission meeting, Emergency Management Director Rick Whitson asked commissioners for approval to open the bidding process to build an addition onto the Dearing Fire Station. Whitson says fire crews need more room in the station because of its importance across the county.

Whitson added that Dearing needs a larger fire truck based on the types of calls it gets and the current building isn't tall enough to accommodate one. However, Whitson says the new building could be expensive.

The Commission gave the go-ahead to solicit bids for the project pending additional information on the building plans.
