Numerous thunderstorms over several hours bring heavy rainfall resulting in flash flooding and road closures.

 

A flash flood warning has been issued Chautauqua County, Southeastern Elk County, Northern Montgomery County, Western Neosho County and South Wilson County. Some locations that will experience flash flooding are Independence, Chanute, Neodesha, Fredonia, Erie, Sedan, Cedar Vale, Thayer, Altoona, Longton, Elk City, Galesburg, Elk Falls, Sycamore, Earlton and Buxton.

 

US 160 is closed between Cowley County and Elk County Line, four miles west of the Grenola area and KS 99 near Moline and closed between KS 99 one mile east of the Moline area and Elk County and Montgomery County Line five miles west of the Elk City area.

 

US 75 is closed between US 400 near Neodesha and US 75 near Altoona. US 59 bridge closed between KS 47 two miles south of the Erie area and KS 39 seven miles north of the Erie area.
