The fate of the Caney Grocery will be discussed in a special workshop Monday evening.

 During last night's regular session meeting, first quarter numbers were given concerning the store's revenue, showing the store made a profit in January, but lost money in February and March.

 With revenues of just over $260-thousand for the first quarter of 2024, but expenses of almost $352-thousand, even with sales tax help, the store is in the negative just over $53-thousand.

 Caney City Administrator Kelley Zellner says there is no more money left to help the store.

 Zellner says all options have been examined.

 The workshop will be held in council chambers at City Hall Monday evening at 6:30. The public is invited to attend.
