Progress is being made on the U.S. 59 bridge over the Neosho River Bridge two miles south of Erie.

According to the Kansas Department of Transportation, the old bridge is gone as work continues on the bridge replacement. The project started in late January. Weather permitting, the new bridge should be open to traffic in January 2025. Traffic is detouring on K-39, U.S. 169 and K-47.
