According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 18-year-old Kasenn Dollar of Liberty was driving a 2010 Chevy Silverado eastbound on US 160 about 3.5 miles west of Independance around 1:30 this morning.  The truck went left of center and struck a Dodge Charger driven by 26-year-old Justin Dean Ward of Independence.  The Silverado also struck a 2022 Dodge Durango driven by 28-year-old Zachary Farmer of Independence. Both Ward and Farmer are Montgomery County Sheriff's Deputies. They were en route to a non-emergency call in Elk City when the accident happened.

Dollar suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.  Next of kin has been notified.  Eighteen-year-old Amir Luten, who was riding with Dollar was taken to Coffeyville Regional Medical Center with a suspected minor injury.  Two juveniles were present in the vehicle as well, their names and condition are not being released.  Dollar and Luten were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
