Fire crews in southwest Kansas respond to an explosion at a grain elevator.

 Just before 6pm on Tuesday evening, fire crews in Comanche County received reports of an explosion at the Alliance Ag and Grain elevator, located in Protection, KS, about 40 miles west of Medicine Lodge.

Comanche County Emergency Management Director Britt Lenertz stated that the explosion was contained to the outside leg of the elevator and grain pit.

There were no injuries reported.
