11 Houses to be Demolished in Coffeyville

The City of Coffeyville has over 125 houses that are not up to code. The city commission approved a contract with Muller Construction to have 11 of those demolished. Code Enforcement Officer Angie Stevens says they can be brought up to code at any time.

The City has budgeted to have 20 houses demolished for the fiscal year. Interim City Manager Tim Wilson says that number needs to be around 40 to 50.

Wilson says he will bring a plan to the commission at the next meeting about how they can replace these old houses with new ones. In other business, the commission gave support to the Court of Valor project at Restlawn Cemetery.
