A Chanute man escaped injury last week when his truck exploded while working at an oil pump jack site in rural Allen County.

 Allen County Sheriff's Deputies say Brandon Morris was outside of his vehicle last Wednesday, working on the pump jack when a mechanical failure on the truck caused it to explode. Nearby witnesses called 9-1-1 thinking there was someone in the vehicle.

Morris was uninjured in the incident.
