Fredonia City Commission Continues Condemnation Proceedings On Run-Down Houses

The Fredonia City Commission is taking action to eliminate run-down and unsafe houses in the city.

The City began condemnation proceedings against 25 properties around town last month. At last night's meeting, affected citizens had the option of addressing the city commission on what they intended to do with their property in order to make it safe. Commissioner Brandon Tindle asked City Manager Wesley Young for clarification on the procedure for dealing with unsafe properties.

The meeting was standing-room only with residents willing to address the issues with properties they own. Many will return to the commission meeting on April 17th to show the city that improvements have been made.

In other business, commissioners approved the creation of the Vacant House Registry that would require owners of vacant houses in the city to register those properties.
