Parsons Schools In Need of Expanded Early Childhood Learning Center

Parsons schools are suffering from growing pains.

At this week's USD 503 School Board meeting, Lincoln Elementary Principal Shelley Gardner and Instructional Coach Whitney Spencer told the school board that the current district preschool classes are full and that there are many children on the waiting list to enroll. Gardner said even with no advertising or enrollment dates held as yet, there are already 20 children on a wait list who have applied to the 3-year-old Preschool for next year.

Board President Jeff Quirin said the issue now is they are at building capacity, and they would need more teachers, aides, and more money because preschool is not funded by the state like first through 12th grade. He said an expansion would likely require a bond issue.
