Solar Eclipse Visible on April 8

An interesting celestial event will happen in just a few weeks.

Coming up on Monday, April 8, a solar eclipse will be visible in the listening area. Ron Mallory of the Kansas Astronomical Observers explains the difference between a solar and a lunar eclipse.

The path of totality for this eclipse will just miss our listening area as it will be visible across southeast Oklahoma, north central Arkansas, and southeast Missouri. However, we should still get a good view of the eclipse on that afternoon. Mallory says, if you plan on looking at the eclipse, you need to use appropriate eye protection.

Eclipse glasses are usually for sale at area retailers. MAKE SURE THE GLASSES ARE ISO 12312-2 CERTIFIED on the package.
