Fredonia Gains Federal Approval for Solar Farm

The City of Fredonia announces that they have received approval from the US Department of Energy for their solar farm project.

The approval comes under the Internal Revenue Code Section 48(e) Low Income Communities Bonus Credit Program.

The solar farm has a capacity of 2,500 kilowatts and is a step toward the city achieving energy independence. The facility will be scheduled for commission and activation in time for the peak energy usage of the summer months. The original application was submitted to the DOE on November 16, 2023.

City Administrator Wesley Young said the solar farm will also provide a sustainable economic benefit to the community.
