ICC Begins Search for Interim President

The Independence Community College is set to begin the search for an interim president.

At Monday's ICC Board of Trustees meeting, trustees discussed hiring an interim president to replace outgoing President Vincent Bowhay. Bowhay announced his resignation at last month's meeting. ICC Vice President of Human Resources Lori Boots says it takes a long time to hire a permanent president.

Boots went on to explain that the average amount of time for a community college to find the right candidate is around 6 months and that an interim president would give trustees time to find the right person for the job. Trustee Susan Porter says, in her experience, having someone in the interim position can smooth the leadership transition.

The Board voted to begin the search for an interim president, who will take over on a temporary basis
