LCC Program Donates Defibrillator Units to Parsons Police

The Parsons Police Department is set to improve its life-saving capabilities thanks to a donation from Labette Community College.

The L-C-C College of Nursing and Respiratory Programs have donated six Automated External Defibrillator Units or AED to the Parsons Police. The AED is a portable device that can be used when a patient's heart stops beating during a cardiac arrest. The units are valued at $1,700 each. The initiative is made possible through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Rural Public Health Workforce Training Network Program, administered by the University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC) Schools of Nursing and Respiratory Therapy.

Parsons Police Department. Chief Spinks stated, "The safety and well-being of our community members are our top priorities. This partnership with LCC is a significant step towards enhancing our emergency response capabilities. The addition of AEDs to our police vehicles and buildings not only ensures the safety of our officers but also reinforces our commitment to the prompt and effective assistance of those in need. We are grateful for the support from LCC and look forward to furthering our collaborative efforts for the betterment of Parsons and its residents."
