Residents in Independence may have noticed the barricades going up in the Municipal Parking Lot at 6th and Myrtle this weekend.
Construction begins on the project today. City Engineer John Garris says there may be some inconvenience when it comes to parking downtown. Garris says the purpose of the renovation is to improve accessibility in the parking lot.
The project will also add ADA parking spaces to the lot. Construction is expected to be complete by the end of May.
