Governor Kelly Signs Bipartisan Bill to Allow Private Funds for Dolly Parton Library

 Governor Laura Kelly signs Senate bill 195, which will allow private funds to support Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.

 The Imagination Library allows every child aged birth to 5 in the state of Kansas to receive one free, high-quality, age-appropriate book per month until their fifth birthday. The new law will allow the Kansas Children's Cabinet to establish a non profit to receive donations, grants, and gifts an conduct fundraising activities for the Library. 

Parton says the Imagination Library can help inspire kids across Kansas to love books and reading. Parton added that a love of reading is a gift that will last a lifetime.

As of March 1st. more than 70,000 Kansas children were enrolled in the program.
