Severe Thunderstorm Watch Until 6am

The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a sever thunderstorm watch until 6am for most of southeast Kansas.

This includes Allen, Chautauqua, Elk, Labette, Montgomery, Neosho, Wilson and Woodson counties and includes the cities of Chanute, Coffeyville, Fredonia, Howard, Independence, Iola, Moline, Neodesha, Parsons, Sedan, and Yates Center.

Radar indicates a band of thunderstorms moving through the area mostly north of Coffeyville and into southwest Missouri in the Nevada area.

A thunderstorm watch means that conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area. During the watch, people should review severe thunderstorm safety rules and be prepared to move a place of safety if threatening weather approaches.

Otherwise for the Coffeyville area today, a chance for showers and thunderstorms remains before 7am, then mostly sunny skies and breezy with a high in the mid 70s.
