Independence Police Chief Announces Resignation

Independence Police Chief Jerry Harrison announces his resignation, effective April 5th.

Harrison is leaving to take over as Chief of Police in Lebanon, MO. Harrison joined the I-P-D in 2016, relocating from Monett, MO, where he had served as a sergeant.

Harrison called his decision a difficult one, but ultimately it was a move that would advance his career while moving him closer to his family.

Independence City Manager Kelly Passauer says an interim chief will be named in the coming days and that the city will begin the search for a new chief soon. There will be a farewell reception on March 28th at 4:30pm, just prior to the Independence City Commission meeting. The public is invited to attend.
