A Columbus man receives a prison sentence of over 26 years for sex crimes against a minor.

 38 year old Brian Curtis Stewart of Columbus, was sentenced to 313 months imprisonment on Friday in Cherokee County District Court.

Following his two-day criminal trial in January, a Cherokee County Jury found Stewart guilty of one count of rape and five counts of aggravated incident liberties of a child, crimes which Stewart committed between March and late August 2016.

Following the trial, Stewart was remanded to the custody of the Cherokee County Jail, where he remains pending transfer to the Kansas Department of Corrections.
